사물을 만지면 관련된 기억과 감정을 읽어낸다면 인간에게 좋은 것이 무엇일까. 문든 경찰이나 검사가 법인잡는 용도로는 제법 괜찮을 능력으로는 보임. 그런데 일반 사람이 이것이 생기면 그것이 행복일까라는 생각.
생각.2 모르는게 약이다.
아는게 힘인 것은 알아도 될만한 걸 알 때고, 대부분의 인간사는 모르는 것이 행복의 지름길일 때가 많다. 사실 내 아내가 나를 어떻게 진심으로 생각하는지 알고싶지 않음. 내 상사가 나를 어떻게 생각하는지, 특히 내 부하직원이 나를 어떻게 생각하는지 하나도 알고싶지 않음.
이유는 그 감정을 감당할 자신이 없기 때문이기도 함.
다른 사람이 나를 어떻게 생각하고, 보든지간에 나는 나대로 살아가는 것이라고 하는데. 또 그것이 쿨한 것이라고들 하는데. 그건 순전히 내가 그 사람들이 나를 진정으로 어떻게 보고 생각하는지를 알 수가 없기때문에 쿨할 수 있다는 것과 같은 말임.
이것 또한 인간의 생존과 연결된 것이라고 보는데, 다른 이가 나를 안좋게 생각하거나 그렇다면 나는 생존에 일면 위협이 있다는 것을 알아차리게 될 것임. 그것은 나로부터 어떤 행동을 유발할 것이고, 그것은 서로 어울려 사는데 크게 도움이 되지 못할 것이라는 것.
생각.3 초능력이 진화하지 않은 이유
우리는 진화하여 왔음. 신체적으로 정신적으로 환경에 적응하고, 유일하게 인류중에서 호모사피엔스만 살아남은 인종임.
호모 사피엔스는 왜 초능력이 개발되거나 진화하지 않았는가?
그것은 인류 생존에 도움이 되지 않았기 때문은 아닐까 생각이 든다. 다른 이의 생각, 혹은 다른이의 물건만 만져도 사건과 감정을 알아낼 수 있는 능력.
이것이 인류가 생존하고 번영을 누리는데 그렇게 중요했다면 우리는 그러한 정신적 능력을 얻기위한 훈련을 했을 것임. 우리는 시도조차 하지 않고 살고 있음.
얻을 수 없는 능력일 수는 있다. 그러나 얻으려고 노력하지 않는 것은 불가능하다고 믿거나, 굳이 사는데 필요 없을 것 같아서임.
초능력. 인류한테 필요 없었기 때문은 아닐까.

Occasionally, one wonders who and why someone conceived the idea of psychometry. If touching an object allows you to read related memories and emotions, it seems like a pretty handy ability for professions like police or prosecutors. But if an ordinary person were to acquire it, would it bring happiness?
Thought #2: Ignorance is Bliss.
Knowledge is power when it's about something worth knowing. However, for most human experiences, not knowing is often the shortcut to happiness. Honestly, I don't want to know what my wife truly thinks of me. I don't want to know what my boss thinks of me, especially not what my subordinates think of me.
The reason is that I'm not confident I can handle those emotions.
People say they live their lives regardless of what others think of them and that it's cool. But that coolness comes from the fact that they genuinely don't know what others think of them.
I see this as connected to human survival. If someone thinks negatively of me, I'd recognize it as a threat to my existence. This realization would trigger certain behaviors in me, which wouldn't be particularly helpful in social coexistence.
Thought #3: Why Superpowers Didn't Evolve.
We have evolved, both physically and mentally, adapting to our environment. Among all human species, only Homo sapiens survived.
Why didn't Homo sapiens develop or evolve superpowers?
Perhaps because it wasn't beneficial for human survival. The ability to know someone's thoughts or to know events and emotions by merely touching an object.
If this was crucial for human survival and prosperity, we would have trained to acquire such mental abilities. We don't even attempt to.
It might be an unattainable ability. But not trying to obtain it is either because we believe it's impossible or because we think it's unnecessary.
Superpowers. Maybe they weren't needed by humanity.
